In the past, energy storage relied heavily on policy guidance or scientific research demonstration projects, with limited marketization. However, after the release of Document No. 136 in February this year, which abolished mandatory energy storage allocation, market demand has accelerated.

Chinese energy storage companies are accelerating their overseas expansion, with emerging markets experiencing explosive growth!

Data shows that in the first half of 2025, Chinese energy storage companies received 163 gigawatt-hours of new overseas orders, a year-on-year increase of 246%. Against the backdrop of accelerated global energy transition, Chinese energy storage companies are experiencing a concentrated boom in overseas markets.

On the one hand, emerging markets are accelerating their energy storage deployment under policy impetus; on the other hand, geopolitical factors have led to unstable power supply or high energy acquisition costs in some countries, resulting in a rapid increase in demand for energy storage. The head of an energy storage system manufacturing company in Beijing revealed that demand in parts of Europe and North America has increased three to five times this year.

While demand for large-scale energy storage continues to rise, the more niche market of small-scale energy storage is also experiencing rapid growth. An energy storage manager at a battery company in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, told reporters that they focus on mobile and residential energy storage products, which are mainly exported to Europe, America, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

As overseas customers pay more attention to service capabilities and full life-cycle protection, the "going global logic" of Chinese energy storage companies is also moving towards the "2.0 era".
